Η Χαλκιδική βρίσκεται στο βόρειο τμήμα της Ελλάδας και διαδραματίζει τον δικό της ζωτικό ρόλο στην ιστορία ολόκληρης της χώρας. Το 348 π.Χ., η Χαλκιδική έγινε μέρος του βασιλείου της Μακεδονίας, υπό τον έλεγχο του Φιλίππου. Μετά το πέρας των πολέμων μεταξύ των Μακεδόνων και των Ρωμαίων, η περιοχή έγινε μέρος της Ρωμαϊκής Αυτοκρατορίας, μαζί με την υπόλοιπη Ελλάδα. Στο τέλος της Ρωμαϊκής Κυριαρχίας, μια ρωμαϊκή αποικία εγκαταστάθηκε στην Κασσάνδρεια, η οποία αργότερα καταλήφθηκε από τον Αύγουστο.
